It's better to comfort crying babies than to leave them to cry
According to this news story, British researchers who compared soothing crying babies versus letting them cry it out found that holding and comforting them minimized the crying.
Well DUH! This is another one of those, "do we really need a study to tell us this?"
I mean if *you* were crying, would you want someone to leave you to cry on your own or would you prefer the supportive and sympathetic presence of someone you love?

We went through the whole "let them cry" idiocy in the 40's and early 50's.
Dr. Spock, even though he wasn't perfect, changed all that.

Amen to that. There was nothing as delicious about proving my FIL wrong by "spoiling" my firstborn who went on to be an awesome baby.

I guess they need these studies for people like him.
